This year, take note of these do’s and don’ts and have yourself a very merry, easy-going, Christmas. The stress factor is setting in here for me, and I'm determined that we ALL will be able to enjoy the holiday as much as our family and friends this year!
Sometimes children don’t want to eat their vegetables. Trying to convince a child to eat a plate loaded with veggies feels like mission impossible. Every parent knows that it is hard to make your children eat well, but it is also important. Ensuring that your children eat a balanced diet is your responsibility. You need to teach your children good food habits now so that when they grow up, they will make the right choices. If you are struggling with getting your kids to eat vegetables, I have some great advice for you. Here are nine simple ways to get your children to eat more vegetables.
Thanksgiving is a time of fellowship, gathering around the table to give thanks for our many blessings throughout the year, and to feast on the bountiful harvest of the year. If you are the one hosting a Thanksgiving dinner, you know that the last thing you want to be worried about on Thanksgiving Day is your table decor. So I’m here to offer up some of my favorite centerpieces to compliment your table or give you inspiration.
Inevitably, your child is going to ask you for a phone. Before you make a decision, see why we feel Virgin Mobile Custom from Walmart is the best family plan out there. #VirginMobileMom #sponsored #MC
I have always had a huge heart and did whatever I have been capable of doing to give back to my community and help those less fortunate. Whether by volunteering my time, making a donation, or just supporting the various fundraising events for my favorite charities – I’ve been involved in giving back for as long as I can remember.
Sharing the Love and Giving Respect
A few years ago, my family volunteered to help my sister’s church serve a Thanksgiving meal to homeless men at The Hope Rescue Mission in Reading, PA. It was enlightening, humbling, and a sheer joy to forget about our own petty problems for a few hours and focus on these men who needed a smile and a gentle word. The image of my two boys, listening intently to the men as they spoke to them about what they were going through, and the compassion and empathy that they showed to these men still makes my heart ache with happiness and my throat close up with unshed tears at the memory.
Did you know that for 26 years I have wanted a Mothers ANYTHING? A ring, a pendant that I could add charms to, a bracelet – anything! Call me crazy, but I’m a visual person, and I love to have pictures or little mementoes of my kids nearby. I have little trinkets that they have given to me all over my desk – a ceramic coaster that my daughter made for me years ago when she was still in school; a little penguin that Tre gave to me; a picture Jonathan drew for me. While I love each and every one of those items, I didn’t have something that I could wear, that I could look at and touch – even miles from home – that would remind me of my dear blessings.
Welcome to Week #1 of our Thankful Thursday Link Up! Every Thursday throughout the month of November, we will be posting what we are thankful for and inviting you to share your thankful posts as well.
Meet Your Hosts
Kim from Life in a House of Testosterone is the mother of three – April (26), Jonathan (15), and Tre (11). She lives in Richmond, VA with her sons, her husband, John (also known as “The Man Thing”), and their Jack Russell Chihuahua mix, Mollyanna. She sees the world through rose-colored glasses most days and feels that every person has a kind and loving soul capable of great things. Sometimes you just need to dig a little deeper to find it in some people.
It goes without saying that once you become a mother, your entire world changes. Your perspective on life changes, your views on right and wrong change, your priorities change. There are times when you welcome those changes, basking in the glow of motherhood, thankful for the opportunity to raise caring, compassionate little people who will contribute to society.
And then the times when you want to slam your head into a wall because nobody told you how freaking difficult being a parent was going to be.
Do you know why we call it Christmas? The boys and I thought we knew why it was called Christmas. Thought being the operative word there. We really had no idea!
I received a copy of this wonderfully informative and entertaining DVD to facilitate this review, but as always, all opinions are 100% our own.
Jonathan, Tre, and I sat down to have a watch this weekend. It was cold and raining outside, perfect weather to snuggle on the couch together under the blanket and watch some holiday shows.
I am thrilled to announce the (belated) kick-off of our 2014 Christmas Gift Guide and Giveaways from Life in a House of Testosterone and Friends! I have some really wonderful bloggers (over 60 of them!!!) who have agreed to help share the fun with their readers as well!
